$140 per 50-minute session
If you need to cancel an appointment, please notify me via email or phone 24 hours prior to your appointment. This allows me to offer that time slot to someone who may need it. If 24-hour notice is not given, the client is responsible for full payment for the missed session. Exceptions are taken into account in the event of an emergency.
At this time, I'm a "private pay therapist," which means I do not accept insurance. As an alternative, some insurance companies allow out-of-network provider reimbursement using a "super-bill" statement. Upon request, I will give you a super-bill statement at the end of each month.
Please note that when considering out-of-network reimbursement or in-network care, it can compromise client confidentiality. For example, insurance companies can request notes about sessions at any time. Insurance companies also require at least one diagnosis for reimbursement. Some clients may not qualify for a diagnosis, and others may not want a diagnosis to become a part of their medical record. Contact your insurance provider regarding specific reimbursement requirements for an "out-of-network licensed therapist."
NO SURPRISES ACT
In compliance with the No Surprises Act that went into effect January 1, 2022, all healthcare providers are required to notify clients of their federal rights and protections against “surprise billing.”
This Act requires that you are made aware of your federally protected rights to receive a notification when services are rendered by an out-of-network provider, if a client is uninsured, or if a client elects not to use their insurance.
Additionally, we are required to provide you with a Good Faith Estimate of the cost of services upon request and prior to your scheduled appointment. Although it is difficult to determine the true length of treatment for mental health care, as each client has a right to decide how long they would like to participate in mental health care, a good faith estimate will be provided and reassessed as needed.
Credit card, debit card, HSA/FSA card, and cash are accepted payment methods.
When we begin working together, you will receive an invite to join my practice management system, SimplePractice. Within your client portal, you will be able to upload your payment method. Payments are automatic, and you will receive an invoice via email. If you would prefer to pay with cash, then I ask that you bring that payment to the session with you.
SimplePractice takes the security of your account information seriously. Multiple layers of encryption are used to protect your data while it is stored or transmitted electronically. PCI-level controls are implemented to ensure that the information you process is equivalent or better than some financial institutions. For more information, please visit their security page.
If you are anything like me, you like to know what to expect!
In our first session, we will focus primarily on getting to know each other and the nature of a counseling relationship. In a comfortable and judgment-free setting, we will talk about what has brought you to counseling, any past experiences of counseling that were helpful or unhelpful, and any concerns or hopes you have related to the counseling process. I will share a little about myself and my theoretical approach to counseling, and together we will decide if we are a good fit!
I wish I could answer this question, but ultimately there are too many variables that play a part in how long individuals participate in counseling, and it comes down to what you are looking for. Some individuals and families are looking for a short-term, solution-focused therapy to address a specific issue, behavior or thinking pattern that may be disrupting daily living. Others may be looking for a long-term, supportive relationship with someone who is unbiased and trustworthy.
Sometimes I meet with clients relatively few times, and they feel like they have achieved their goals. Other times, I meet with clients, and we uncover topics or wounds that need further work, which likely increases the number of sessions. With that said, I invite all my clients to be an integral part of their healing process. Together, we collaborate to determine the course of your treatment based on your goals, and I do regular check-in's about the counseling experience, our relationship, and your goals. I believe you're the expert of your life, and I encourage your input and insight.
